An examination of the energy machine of Joseph Newman

In regard to the Energy machine of Joseph Newman, I built a 12 pound model, 8 pounds of wire ,4 pounds of magnets and after three weeks of analysis proved the model did not work.

This is a very tricky device and can fool the most learned, so I'm sure that the Scientists that tested it were just fooled into thinking it worked. They based their test results on coil current, squared times coil resistance, as energy dissipated in the coil in heat form. Using the same methods that they used to test with, I got the same results, astronomical efficiency factor.

This did get me excited for a while, though they must be right, and had vision of steam engines running from coil heat alone.

Then I reasoned that if such a device as this, very simple to build, could be so efficient, it should be in use everywhere. why not?.

This forced me to do a lot of thinking, and do more tests, trying to solve the mystery of the high current flow through the coil. The therminal amp meter showed that the battery discharge rate was 40 Milliamps, and the battery discharged at 5 Ma rate, Amp hour capacity divide by time to discharge. This appeared to prove the batteries were being charged by the collapsing field energy in the coil, as claimed by Newman. By conventional maths and science the formula I squared times R of coil is valid, but I have doubts in regards to my test results.

Since one can not always trust math & instrument indications, one has to prove it with other methods.

I used two identical insulated foam boxes, lined inside and out with aluminium foil, motor in one box, and a resistor in the other box with a Dc source of power, from a battery through a current meter and rheostat.

A bridge type of thermometer was used to compare temperature of both boxed., By adjusting rheostat, the temp could be made the same in each box. Since the power dissipated by the rheostat is known at all times, the power dissipated in true watts can be determined for the coil power dissipation.

Tests proved that the coil was not dissipating power as tests by math and instruments had proved. Then I knew why, all the wire had insulation, and it acted as a dielectric, acting like a coil shunted by a capacitor, so it was just current flowing in and out of a capacitor, called wattless power or reactive power.

Even though I did not bother to test the brake hp out of the device, other engineers told me at very best, it never exceeded 95% efficiency. My opinon is, its nothing more than a slow speed ,high torque ,DC motor

Even though I have never experimented with electrostatic motors, I have often thought about such devices.

I would have to study some theory on this subject before I could build such a motor. If it was logical on paper it might be worthwhile to construct such a device

I have found that high voltage can be obtained from AC power line by using voltage multiplier circuits, RF power supplys, or even from auto ignition coils when driven with pulse generator circuits, at low cost and high efficiency.
